Free LGBTI Aged Care Training - Illawarra
A free, essential and relevant one day training course for all workers in the aged care sector across the Illawarra and Shoalhaven to help promote a better understanding of the needs of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTI) people, and provide staff with more confidence to deliver an inclusive, best practice service.
ACON is NSW’s leading health promotion organisation specialising in HIV and LGBTI health, and is also Australia’s largest and most recognised national provider for LGBTI inclusion training programs.
Incorporated in 1985 as the AIDS Council of NSW, ACON is an innovative organisation which has successfully adapted to changes in the HIV epidemic and responded early to emerging health issues among our communities. ACON is widely acknowledged as a key partner in regional LGBTI health issues and continues to work, in partnership with regional partners, on the priority LGBTI health areas of sexual and mental health, ageing, community safety, domestic violence, inclusion, smoking and alcohol and other drugs.
This national aged care sector training initiative, funded by the Australian Government, is presented by ACON with support from the Illawarra Forum.
Places are limited and will fill up quickly so RSVP without delay by Wednesday 23 November. Representatives from each organisation will be limited to three (3).
