Bingay, Sydney’s original and much-loved drag bingo night, will relaunch in November at its new home at Upstairs Beresford at The Beresford Hotel in Surry Hills. A fundraiser for LGBTI health organisation ACON, the camp monthly event will swing back into action on Thursday 9 November with a salute to pop siblings and gay icons, Kylie and Dannii Minogue.

Bingay is gay bingo which means there are weird rules and penalties, sing-a-longs, outrageous antics, deliciously lewd bingo calls and hilarious stories. There’s always an amazing assortment of prizes that range from the silly and camp to great theatre tickets and restaurant vouchers.

Established in 1999, Bingay is Australia’s longest-running gay/drag bingo night and one of the most enduring LGBTI fundraising events in Sydney. All proceeds from Bingay go towards supporting the HIV prevention, HIV support and LGBTI health work of ACON.

ACON Events Coordinator David Wilkins says the move marks a new chapter for the much-loved fundraiser.

“After four years at the incredible Midnight Shift, the sad closure of the venue meant that Bingay had to find a new home, and we couldn’t be happier to have relocated to just around the corner at the stunning Beresford Hotel. We’d like to thank everyone at the Midnight Shift who helped to ensure that Bingay continued to be the huge success and fun night out that it is.

“When it returns in November, Bingay audiences are in for the time of their lives this month as we pay homage to two LGBTI icons, the Minogue sisters! The great thing about Kylie and Dannii is that their songs are timeless, entertaining and appeal to all ages. So come along with your grandmas, granddads, mums and dads and I guarantee we will have them shamelessly dancing in the aisles.

“It’s a hugely entertaining night out for the bargain price of $20. What’s more our fantastic volunteer team makes for a fabulous night out, and you’ll be done and dusted by 10pm, which leaves plenty of time for some extra fun or rest.”

Slipping back into her stilettos as host for another round of fun is the always fabulous drag star Charisma Belle, and long-time barrel babe Naomi Palmer, who will continue to spin the balls and sing up a storm.

Charisma says she’s looking forward to settling into Bingay’s new home and putting her own unique spin on the event.

“Bingay is such a fun gig. I’m absolutely thrilled that it’s back and I’m really looking forward to continuing with all the camp carry on that has made Bingay such a popular night out for locals and visitors alike.”

Bingay’s relaunch at its new home kicks off an exciting summer series, which includes a special Christmas edition with the return of Big Bingay at Paddo RSL on Friday 8 December.
