All That We Carry: ACON’s Suicide Prevention Forum

ACON presents a forum about LGBTQ+ communities’ lived experiences of suicide, distress, and navigating care.

Our communities have really been through it over the last few years, and we’ve lost too many LGBTQ+ people to suicide. We’re gathering the community to talk about it.

With representatives from peer-based and outreach services in NSW, we’re getting into an open discussion about how we deal with crisis, find support and navigate services, and will highlight the need for improving what community care can look like for LGBTQ+ communities.

Attendees will learn about:

  • Defining LGBTQ+ experiences of suicide
  • Situational distress
  • Protective factors
  • Service options
  • Navigating services
  • Community care across different cultures and identities
  • Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander LGBTQ+ support

Wednesday 20 September 2023, 12pm-1:30pm on Zoom

Accessibility: Auslan interpreters and live transcript captions

Our LGBTQ+ suicide prevention programs have been built through extensive community consultation, we co-design this work with, by and for our communities and always centre those with lived experience of suicide.

We would like to acknowledge and extend our deepest respect and gratitude to every person who has generously contributed their time and lived experience towards the development of the forum.

ACON has been funded by the NSW Government to support the Premier's Priority to reduce the suicide rate in NSW. HERE is part of NSW Health’s Towards Zero Suicides initiative, Community Response Packages for Priority Groups.
