We're with you: Looking out for our mental health

LGBTQ people have a long history of caring and looking out for each other. As we’ve weathered the storm of a difficult year, looking out for each other’s mental health is crucial. As a result, ACON is running We’re with you, a 6 week workshop for LGBTQ community members to develop their skills around helping others who are experiencing mental distress. The workshop is a chance for community members to connect and share ideas about supporting others through difficult times.

In this workshop, you will learn about LGBTQ people and mental health, strategies to help someone in need, strategies to look after yourself while you’re in a position of support, and how to navigate mental health services.

Please note that this is a workshop for people who are helping others through periods of mental distress. If you are in need of mental health support yourself, ACON provides confidential counselling to people in our communities. Contact ACON on (02) 9206 2000 or 1800 063 060.

We’re with you ran from November-December 2020. To express your interest in participating in future iterations of the workshop, please complete this form to stay informed of the plans for We’re with you in 2021.
